I am a 30-something Expat Aussie Mum of 2 girls experiencing life in a strange land – new country, new language, new culture. Currently located in Northwest Mexico, I am constantly approached by people in the street/shops/bank to comment on my blonde hair – that is the significance of my blog nickname “Guera” which means “blondie” in Spanish and is pronounced “where-a”.
My two very blonde daughters attract even more attention and are usually called “Guerita” (little blondie), pronounced “where-ita” or “Chiquitita” (little one), yes, like the ABBA song, pronounced “chick-itita”. There is usually a lot of gushing. Guerita (4 years old) has a serious princess complex (the gushing encourages this). Chiquitita (11 months old) has a huge crush on Guerita, she can do no wrong and is to be adored (also encourages the princess complex). There’s also a husband in the mix, though not blond. His work is the reason we’re here on this Latin Adventure.
